Now, although this film is very controversial, I absolutely LOVED this movie! I wasn’t all too familiar with the previous 13 movies and their different timelines (and maybe that’s why I liked it so much), but watching “Halloween Ends” was a thrilling summary to my Halloween night. It was entertaining, thrilling, captivating, and gory; some of the writing and scenes were a bit corny at times, but it added a sense of charm to the movie overall.

Ok, I gotta say… I may have stretched the truth in the title of this article a little. In this latest movie, Michael Myers DOES finally die! Yes, I know, that seemed like an impossible statement to make for the past few decades, but it seems as if he is finally dead for good; hence the name: Halloween ENDS. After decades of battling Myers and her past, Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, actually gets the monster with two knives, a frying pan, and a full-sized refrigerator. At one point, you think Michael will finally finish the job and kill his nemesis, but Laurie’s granddaughter saves the day by slashing his arm. Michael has a habit of regenerating when he is stunned and then killing again, but this time he does not. After the town’s police get his unconscious body, they break all protocols in dealing with that sort of criminal. Instead, they parade his body on the top of a cop car for all the town to see and celebrate. As all of his victims gather around, Laurie throws his body into the metal grinder of a junkyard (of which the owner was killed by Michael’s accomplice (yeah, a long story)) and grounds the entirety of his body into mince meat. After seeing the gruesome scene play out on the big screen, I… don’t think he’s coming back after that.

If I was a certified, unforgiving, critical, critic-y critic, I might have a few qualms with the plot and character development. Like with the character Corey Cunningham (the accomplice I was telling you about), played by Rohan Campbell. It seemed as if he was here and then went very quickly, although the “Halloween” series has a track record of keeping extras that had maybe two lines in the whole film for decades at a time. And yes, this was probably because “Halloween Ends” was the final film of the series, but it was still a very disappointing thing to see. Some other criticisms that critic-y critics had were:

Count Dracul (Dracul) – ⭐⭐ “Not a good final for such an iconic killer/victim duo. The cinema film shots were great for the movie, but other then that it felt very dragged out/forced as far as story. Being a MM fan for 20+ years this left a bad taste in my mouth for Michael’s final with Jamie Lee.”

Rob Corbo – ⭐ “I would give this less than 1 if I could. I suppose the fact that a film was made should count for something though I.” suppose.

Leighton Bond – ⭐ “DO NOT waste your time watching this movie! It barely shows Michael Myers and goes into a psycho love story between Allison and a guy named Corey. Corey tries to be MM and kills almost everyone, where MM gets perceived as weak. He does not get to portray the MM everyone saw in Halloween Kills.”

Overall, “Halloween Ends” was a great movie to watch while Halloween ended. The “Halloween” franchise has (seemingly) ended along with their big and bad, Michael Myers. But after decades of trickery, I am not so sure that the franchise and Michael Myers are officially done. And if they happen to come back, I will accept them with open arms!
