As we approach the season of Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) meetings, remember all the classes Hillcrest offers to help you get ahead. Two of these options are AP and Dual Credit classes. Both classes provide an opportunity to earn college credit. We asked Hillcrest counselor Dr. Bayne to explain the difference, and she clarified that AP classes require you to take an exam at the end of the course and earn a score of at least three or higher to receive college credit. At Hillcrest, Dual Credit courses are offered through Greenville Technical College. These do not require an exam at the end; you will receive credit as long as you pass the class. If you earn college credits for both of these classes, your final grade will appear on not only your high school transcript but also your college transcript.
