Over the weekend at the Pride of Pendelton Marching Classic, Hillcrest’s marching band, the Red and Black Brigade, made the finals for the first time in History. This competition is a battle between multiple high school marching bands from across the state. The Red and Black Brigade presented their show “All New Heights” to the competition.
Trumpet Section Leader, Jaden Laurnaga had plenty to say about their historic placing in the classic. He shared that many people don’t know the time they have to take out of school to make finals. He states, “We have to practice Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:15 to 6:30 after school.” He says, “It all paid off,” when they heard the announcement that they made it into finals. He shares being in the marching band is like being in a family. He also shares that although it takes up most of the summer, it’s a great atmosphere to be in. This is a great accomplishment for our marching band, so congratulations to all members of the Red and Black Brigade!
