Oasis is finally reuniting after 15 years apart! The rock band was formed in 1991 in Manchester by two brothers: Noel and Liam Gallagher. After forming, they went on to have a very successful career with hits such as ‘Wonderwall,’ and, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger,’ but they left it all behind to pursue solo careers in 2009. The split, however, was not amicable or without tension. The brothers have launched several verbal attacks towards each other over social media and in interviews over the years they’ve been apart, yet they have decided to come together to do something they once loved. This makes us ask ourselves if we would be able to swallow our pride and reconcile with someone we were once close with. To gain perspective on this topic, I’ve asked Hillcrest alumni and my sister, Kamya Mosby.
If you got in a big fight with someone you were close to like Oasis did, would you try and reunite with them?
“Absolutely not. I’m not going to try to reunite personally, I’m not the bigger person, I can say that it won’t be me reaching out first.”
Would you reunite if there was money involved, like with Oasis?
“Oh for sure! I’d do it for the money only and we wouldn’t talk about anything else,”.
Noel and Liam probably feel the same way, as the tour is expected to bring in millions of dollars. Although many fans are still questioning if the duo will even make it to the first tour date which is in July of next year because of their troubled past. But some may be looking at this as a more symbolic, fairytale story of how people can come together and forgive for what’s happened in the past.
