“Swimming is a sport for everyone and something people can continue after their competitive days are done.” – Coach Crabtree
Did you know that Hillcrest High School has a swim team? The swim team coach, Tammy Crabtree, wants you to know a few things about the hard workers who make such an aspiring team! Hillcrest has more swimmers this year than pre-Covid. Coach Crabtree says it’s exciting to see the number of swimmers returning! In particular, more boys are swimming than in past years, which gives Hillcrest more options for relays. More swimmers also help make the team more competitive!
As a swimmer, you must be hardworking, determined, and self-driven. While all athletes share some of these traits, swimmers are unique because their results are 100% dependent on their own efforts. These determined swimmers are in turn easier to coach to success! Swimming isn’t really a team sport, but at Hillcrest, everyone is supporting each other! The team members are always cheering others on during a race, celebrating success, and comforting others when the outcomes are less than desired.
Coach Crabtree does not hold tryouts and encourages swimmers of all abilities to join the team! If you’re thinking about joining the swim team you can contact Tammy Crabtree at [email protected]!
