Did you know that hurricane winds can get up to 75 mph? Winds like that can cause waves over 6 meters to rise! Hurricane Ernesto did just that. What started out as a tropical storm with 25 mph turned into a 65mph hurricane overnight. As Hurricane Ernesto was making its path up the Atlantic coast, it plowed through every small island in its way, such as the Virgin Islands. The question is: Did you know about this hurricane?
Hillcrest Student, Aaliyah Criswell, had no idea about this hurricane. She explained that she didn’t know about it because it didn’t directly impact her or her schooling. Aaliyah said that if she knew about this deadly hurricane, she would have made sure her car was full of gas and had enough food just incase of a power outage. Hurricane Ernesto had a big impact on the South Carolina coast, yet no one knows about it.
