A stage adaptation of the beloved “Hercules” movie by Disney is now in production!
It is being directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and David Zippel. There will also be a brand-new book by Robert Horn and Kwei-Armah, and the co-choreography will be done by Tanisha Scott. This play is supposedly going to be ready for the public by August 31st at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park, New York. This was announced at Disney’s D23 event this year. The D23 event goes into detail of what projects and movies Disney is working on for the upcoming year. At this year’s D23 event, they teased a bit of the Hercules musical by letting the muses sing “Zero to Hero,” and, “Go the Distance”. Not only did the public get a sneak peek of the muses and some of the music, but also Hercules himself. Bradley Gibson is going to be the live performer for Hercules and he was shown during “Zero to Hero” in his costume, flexing his muscles as the muses sang around him. Many Disney fans are excited to see this musical and hear the nostalgic songs of Hercules live!
