Monday was a day off from school for many Upstate students due to the Partial eclipse. Altough the trajectory through SC was only partial many people took the day to witness the event. The peak of the solar eclipse was at 3:08 p.m. EST with viewers in Greenville. The eclipse began in Mexico, and then crossed over into the U.S. through Texas. From there, the path of totality extended northeast and crossed through 13 states. Totality will end in Maine, but the eclipse will eventually enter the maritime provinces of Canada. According to Scientists, the 2024 solar eclipse will be one of the “most watched solar eclipses in history” due to the large cities it’ll pass through. The next total eclipse to pass through the United States will happen 20 years from now.
