Dune 2 was released to theaters all over the world on March 1, 2024. Many people are saying that it is already the biggest release of the year. Others are wondering if there will be a third installment of the film franchise. Dune director Denis Villeneuve has said the books later become increasingly esoteric and therefore he only wants to adapt the next book, Dune Messiah. He is said to be almost finished with a script for a potential Dune: Part Three. Like the first film, Dune: Part Two is also an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel of the same name, covering the second half of the book.
