Throughout the state, signs are beginning to pop up promoting Republican candidate Nikki Haley. Signs sporting the phrase “Nikki Haley for president” can be found across the state; they can even be seen near Hillcrest! Promotion so close to a school is an interesting choice, considering the majority of students are unable to vote and that political opinions are usually taboo within a school setting. Haley is originally from Bamberg, South Carolina, and has served as governor in the past. She had recently been trying to campaign for the state’s Republican primary election, even when predicted to lose. The predictions were accurate, as Haley lost the SC Republican primary to Donald Trump. Even after the loss of her home state, Haley is continuing to campaign across the country.
