On Friday, March 2023, Hillcrest held their 2024 Black History Month Program hosted by the Black and Brown Student Union. The program started with an introduction by Ms. Reese, and the donation of $1,000 to the Pearlie Harris Center by the Black and Brown Student Union. After, Hillcrest’s choir officially began the program by singing. Following the chorus, Judge Jasmine Twitty, the youngest female judge in the United States, gave an aspiring speech about the uniqueness of every person and the importance of being yourself. Following Judge Twitty, there was a moving dance break. Then the motivating Marae Lewis, Hillcrest Alumni, gave a speech regarding the importance of acceptance and the effect judging someone due to factors they cannot control, such as their skin color, can have. The last presentation was another Hillcrest Alumni, Marlayna Mcbride who sang Rise Up by Andra Day.
