Tim Scott officially dropped out of the Presidential race on November 12th. The South Carolina Senator stepped back from the campaign after a lackluster showing in the 3rd Republican Primary Debate just a few days earlier. Tim Scott announced he will be forfeiting the presidential race as he believes, “the voters… have been really clear that they’re telling me, ‘Not now, Tim'”. Yet this comes after recent polls showed the Senator pulling less than 3% of GOP voters. This may be because his firm religious beliefs did not match the opinion of the American people. His almost theological political ideas excluded many of the younger, less religious, voters he had left. In fact, audible disapproval could be heard at the most recent republican debate when Tim Scott demanded, “We should stop kneeling in protest and start kneeling in prayer”.
Tim Scott started his campaign back in May and began with the largest amount of immediate funds out of any of the Republican candidates. However, after a multi-month struggle, Tim Scott failed to pull in the votes… again. The Senator says he has no plan to join any other candidate’s ticket and will return to serving South Carolina the best way he knows how.
