The ACCUPLACER is a national test distributed by College Board to asses students on their ability to do well in college courses. Rising juniors most often take it in high school to see if they qualify for dual credit courses. The Accuplacer has a math and an English comprehension section. Each section requires you to only pull from past knowledge with no external help like a calculator or reading guide. The tests are graded on a point scale from 200 to 300. A higher score for each section is better. The Accuplacer should be taken seriously because it is a chance for students to take college classes in high school. This way they can complete general education credits and don’t have to pay for those classes in college. The Accuplacer usually comes to most public high schools once per year. Make sure to ask your counselor about when you can take the Accuplacer!
