Matthew Perry From “Friends” Passes Away

On October 28, 2023, sad news was heard around the world, beloved “Friend’s”actor Matthew Perry had passed away.

Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969. His parents separated when he was one year old, and he was raised by his mother mostly in Ottawa, Ontario, but he also lived briefly in Toronto and Montreal. Perry attended school at Rockcliffe Park Public School, as well as Ashbury College, a boarding school in Ottawa. At 15, Perry studied acting at Buckley School, Los Angeles, took improvisational comedy classes at L.A. Connection in Sherman Oaks, and graduated in 1987.

He started his career very young and had many hits. It wasn’t until 1994 that he had his major breakthrough. Initially, Matthew was committed to a pilot for a drama called LAX 2194 making him unavailable for a role in another show,  Friends. After the LAX 2194 pilot fell through, he had the opportunity to audition for a part in Friends and landing the iconic role of Chandler Bing

After the utter shock that was brought upon us, his former cast members put out a statement that says, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” the statement reads. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” continues the statement “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
