We live, we love, we lie. Many have fallen in love with the tiny blue phenomenon referred to as Smurf Cat. This creature is a realistic AI-generated Smurf with a cat head that quickly became the internet’s next star. Smurf Cat, originally referred to in Russia as Шайлушай, gained popularity through TikTok slideshows featuring the song The Specter by Alan Walker. These spread like wildfire, creating many spin offs like the Strawberry Elephant. While many of these arose, none of them gained as much popularity as the original. In fact, Smurf Cat got so popular that it became canon to the Smurfs universe through a drawing posted on the official Smurfs Instagram account. Unfortunately, the small blue cat ‘died’ within two weeks of its sudden rise to fame. Even though Smurf Cat is no longer trending, Mrs. Mulvaney still keeps its picture in her classroom. Smurf Cat is one of many strange internet fascinations, and more are sure to come soon!
