Frank Ocean's Coachella Performance Causes Outrage Among Fans

On Sunday April 16, Frank Ocean headlined Coachella 2023 which was his first performance since 2017; however, he left many fans feeling unsatisfied and a little more than angry. Due to Ocean’s extended hiatus, caused by a family tragedy, his fans were feeling excited for what was sure to be a victorious comeback. In reality Frank Ocean’s performance left much to be wanted. Ocean arrived on stage an hour late, despite the strict curfew Coachella enforces, and came off as extremely underprepared. Ocean did not preform live, as he was expected to, and instead danced around on stage to studio recorded versions of his songs. Reportedly, after each song ended there was a lengthy amount of silence that followed, leaving the crowd appalled. The performance only went downhill after Ocean suddenly called it off mid-song. Frank Ocean then pulled out of his performance for Coachella Weekend 2 due to an ankle injury he received while biking, which he also claimed hindered his performance. Although many fans are upset, a good majority are understanding that Ocean just may not have been ready to preform again.
