On February 6, 2023, southwest Turkey and northwest Syria were left in shambles after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Two weeks later, on February 20, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit southern Turkey. Currently, the death toll caused by both earthquakes surpassed 50,000 and is still climbing. There are over 85,000 injuries, and more than 45,000 buildings have collapsed. To help those affected you can donate to the Syrian American Medical Society Foundation (https://www.sams-usa.net/), the Turkish Red Crescent.
