Prince Harry Releases a Very Detailed and Intimate Memoir

For the past couple of years, the royal family has been in a plethora of controversies, which were brought to light via either paparazzi, interviews, or a memoir made by a single prince caught in between it all. That’s right! Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has written a memoir detailing intimate and unheard-of events within the royal family. His book “Spare” is an introspective look into his royal life and the traumas that came with it. In a Washington Post article titled “The verdict on Prince Harry’s book: Juicy, humorous, resentful and sad,” they explain the meaning of the title “Spare” by stating, “The title, in case you’re wondering, is the nickname bestowed on Harry in infancy. He was to be the second-born “Spare” to the “Heir,” his older brother William, future Prince of Wales. “I was the shadow” (Louis Bayard). As of right now, Harry’s book is breaking records with the number of sales it garnered in the first 24 hours of publication. According to MoneyControl News’s article “Prince Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’ creates Guinness Record for fastest-selling non-fiction book”, ‘Spare’ is the first non-fiction book to have sold 1.43 million copies in just 24 hours. Whether you agree with how Prince Harry has gone about exposing his family, one can’t deny the cultural significance this book will have for years to come.
