Some students at Hillcrest Highschool are outraged about new sporting event policies. The new policies require middle school students to come accompanied by an adult; (19 years or older) they may not enter with a Hillcrest student. Hillcrest students may still attend games without an adult but are required to bring their student ID. The decision to enact these regulations stems from Dr. Jarrett and the administration staff at Hillcrest. Dr. Jarrett sent out an announcement explaining his decisions and clarifying the new rules. Jarrett states, “We believe these changes will increase safety and result in an improved experience for our fans who are at the games to cheer on our Hillcrest Rams.” Some students are angered by the change requiring them to wear their IDs after school while others support the new regulations. However, these policies seem to directly target pay-to-enter sports like football, baseball, and basketball. Less popular sports like tennis, field events, and golf will see greater difficulty at enforcing these rules.
