As of presidential inauguration day, Elon Musk has been dominating space, the roads, and now oddly the government. After being named head of new White House Department DODGE, which stands for the Department of Government Efficiency, Elon music has been on a power streak. He has demanded government officials explain why their jobs are worth keeping, been accused of voter fraud, and even caught in a sault scandal.
Many Voters around the United States have been unhappy with these changes and have made an uproar about Elon’s company Tesla. Tesla is an electric car company that has been one of the significant pushes toward eco-friendly cars. However when people are unhappy with Elon, the electric cars take a fall.
Over the past month, Tesla owners have been selling their cars, destroying the stock put into the company. Just today March 26th 2025 alone, Tesla’s stock has dropped 5%. After building up for so many years, this launches a huge shock into the company, and means Elon might be in some financial trouble.
Not only have there been peaceful sellings of cars, but people all over the country have been vandalizing Cybertrucks and Tesla SUVs. Phrases like muskrat, dump truck, and other vulgar language have been spray painted on these cars, and are causing a giant scene.
These protests have caused many different reactions at Hillcrest, some positive and some negative.
Mr. Barker, a world history teacher here at Hillcrest said in an interview, “You know, I’m not an electric car fan, but you can’t damage someone else’s property no matter your feelings toward them.”
Ella Reese, a sophomore here at Hillcrest said, “I support,” and another sophomore at Hillcrest who requested to be anonymous said, “Oh queen slay, destroy them cars.”
As you can see there are many different opinions on these damages, but in the end hopefully these issues can be solved!
