Have you been hearing of a new virus called Monkey Pox? Have you been wondering what monkey pox truly is and if it is life threatening? Well, I am here to inform you that monkey pox is not life threatening, and instead ismore like modern chicken pox. Though scientists cannot find the origins of monkey pox, they suspect it came from African rodents and non-human primates (like monkeys, for example) that harbored this virus and then spread it to humans. Would you believe monkey pox goes all the way back to the 1970s? Its just now that it is originating out of Africa. It is becoming a problem because in the United states we do not have a vaccine for this virus yet. Though there is no need to fret, because even though this virus is an issue, it isn’t as big as covid. The only way for this virus to spread is through direct contact with the infected persons bodily fluids, sores, scabs, or respiratory droplets. So as long as we don’t touch one another, we will be fine. The symptoms are: Fever, headaches, muscle aches/back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, exhaustion, and rashes that look like pimples or blisters. If you do get these rashes that look like pimples or blisters, they only last for 2-4 weeks before they go down, so it’s not a forever type of thing. So, there is no need to fret over monkey pox, just be sure to wash your hands and keep a friendly distance! Also, try not to share drinks and food with others.
