“Food brings people together; if you’re open to learning more about our culture, the best way to do it is through our food!” – Lizeth Arango
1100 E. Lee Rd, Taylors, South Carolina; this may seem like a random address, but this is the address of a family-owned Colombian bakery. Lizeth’s family is originally from Colombia. When they moved to the States her mother, Dora Morales, didn’t want to do odd jobs; she wanted a more skilled line of work. So, she learned how to cook and bake! La Pereira Bakery opened on June 11, 2007, and has been a pillar in the community since. Lizeth Arango, head of marketing and the owner’s daughter, says one of her best memories of the bakery has been serving the community, whether it’s donating a plate of empanadas, being a sponsor for scholarship events, or donating to cancer research, La Pereira will be there!
All the food is made in-house and served fresh each day! One of the most popular dishes at La Pereira Bakery is Bandeja Paisa, a big plate with a little bit of everything, from maduros (fried plantains) to fried pork!
If you’re thinking about Colombian food for lunch, you can order online from the La Pereira Bakery website, or call in and ask for the soup of the day. In Colombian culture, soup is an option at every meal!
If you ever feel like trying something different that you won’t find anywhere else (except Colombia), then stop by La Pereira Bakery. They would love to have you, and I’m sure you’ll love the food as much as I do!
