Recently in the Hillcrest book club, the students read Rebecca Ross’s “Divine Rivals.” The author describes the book as, “When two young rival journalists find love through a magical connection, they must face the depths of hell, in a war among gods, to seal their fate forever. After centuries of sleep, the gods are warring again. But eighteen-year-old Iris Winnow just wants to hold her family together.” The book brings together many positive elements, such as being true to yourself, finding your own path, and sticking to the facts that are presented in front of you. This book is a must read for fantasy lovers and the need of a rival atmosphere between characters. Divine Rivals is part of a series, continuing in the second book “Ruthless Vows.”
